Krótki opis
Serial opowiada o losach wielopokoleniowej i wielokulturowej amerykańskiej rodziny, której głową jest Jay Pritchett. Jay przeżywa kryzys wieku średniego i po rozwodzie żeni się z dużo od siebie młodszą Kolumbijką, Glorią, adoptując przy okazji jej syna z pierwszego małżeństwa, dziesięcioletniego Manny’ego. Jay często jest brany za ojca swojej żony, a nie męża, co jest dla niego dużym wyzwaniem. Posiada również dwójkę dorosłych dzieci z pierwszą żoną, które mają własne rodziny.
